Kim, a former dance instructor, had always been a healthy weight and in shape–until she stopped dancing. She quickly put on extra pounds she couldn’t seem to lose and worried she was headed down the same path as her father–a life of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Then she found Yes Health.
My father suffered from being severely over weight and had type 2 diabetes. In the end, he passed away from heart failure. I didn’t want to follow in his footsteps.
I would go on different diets here and there, but I never lost more than 10 pounds and generally gained back some or all of the weight.
The Yes Health program came to me by way of my health insurance company. Even though I work in a position that requires me to push out offers to our employees, I’m not typically someone who asks for advice about dieting or exercise. But I decided that since I was recommending a program to our employees, I should at least sign up to see for myself how it worked. It was intimidating at first, putting myself out there and asking for help, but I was determined to follow through.
Once I was enrolled, I quickly realized the many ways Yes Health was going to help me. Working with the coaches and having their immediate one-on-one feedback has been invaluable. They are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive and personable, and help me make positive changes in a way that’s realistic, doable and respectful of my busy schedule. As a direct result, I’ve made lifelong changes in what I eat, how I exercise and how I manage my time so I get to do the things I enjoy.
I set a goal to lose 20 pounds. I have about three to go and have no doubt that, now with my new knowledge from the Yes Health coaches, I will meet my goal. I also have confidence that I’ll keep it off and be able to maintain a healthy weight. The coaches have taught me what to add to my diet to make it more balanced and also easy to stick to, even after the program ends.
Thanks to Yes Health, I’ve developed a daily routine of taking brisk walks, stretching, using resistance bands, and doing balance exercises and using the elliptical machine. Through the coaches’ input, I’ve kept my workouts interesting and relevant to my needs. The coaches’ YouTube videos have helped me learn how to do stretches and strength-building exercises safely and effectively.
I now have most of my officemates walking during their breaks and changing some of their food habits too. This program has given me so much more then successful weight loss. I would recommend Yes Health to anyone who wants to make a positive change in their overall well-being.
